One Last Word

from Lindsay…

I’m resting up after laying down for about 15 hours and actually sleeping for less than half of that during the 4 days and 15 hours of the Iditarod. Surprisingly, the best sleep I had was when Charlie Farrow and I decided to bivy at the side of the trail about 55. kms  west of the tent at Rohn. From there we went the last 165 kms with no sleep and we were virtually falling asleep on our bike during the last leg from Nikolai to Mcgrath.

It was an incredible adventure and I was truly blessed to be able to share it with Charlie. Charlie is a member of the renouned DBD group of super athletes from Duluth. I was honoured when he presented me with two of the coveted patches at the end of the event. One was for yours truly and one for my ever faithful manservent Andy.

One last thought goes out to my friend Marty. I wore your jersey with pride and having you along really helped me through the tough times. I hope I did you proud.

    Well done Brother,
Your family worry with you every pedal of the bike but we also think you are amazing and love you very much.

Congratulations Lindsay! You not only completed your challenge for yourself and Marty, but you have inspired us all!!

Congratulations Lindsay! Again you have amazed and inspired us all. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure at Nick’s. Enjoy your “time off” in Wisconsin this week. Take it easy. You (and Lynne) deserve it.

…………and it’s Messier, in with the assist! Way to go Superman! You inspired me when I was a Junior, and you continue to do so now. There have been more than a few times when I was out on the bike, with a dead-tired body, needing to get home, and I’d just think, “You know, Mr. Olympia would just be getting warmed-up by now.” and I’d manage to shame myself the rest of the way. I’m sorry I missed your million km party. Once again, simply amazing. Oh, my parents were pretty impressed when I told them, so it’s a “way to go” from them as well! I can’t wait to tell them about this years ‘Rod. They saw your pictures from last year, and they think I’m pushing-it doing six to eight hour rides a couple of times per week! After reading about your latest adventure, I think I’ll ride the Pugromancer out to the farm and tell them.
